Kim, I finally had a chance to read this in full, and I was really inspired by it. I'm glad that you had all these great opportunities to evolve and journalism is thankful by your willingness to do so.

Looking forward to seeing all your great work at the new gig.

Kim,

It's great to read your story, and from a fellow Wildcat nonetheless!

I've had the pleasure of meeting and speaking on a panel at U of O J school with SPJ leader Hagit Limor...more importantly however, I've gotten to hear about you through my good friend April Rosen. She speaks proudly of you!

Really glad to hear your success...what's the future lie for you now?
A book, perhaps? :)

Good luck and looking forward to connecting online.

Best wishes,

Hello Kim,

I am moved by your experiences' history as a journalism. It is an inspiration to me, for I am a newcomer to this magnificent world and stepping shyly in its realm. I have learned a lot today from your experience, wishing you all the very best in your new job as producer at WQXR.

Basically, yes!

It's almost like freelancer 2.0, where you have to produce the content but now also distribute it and find a way to make money.

It's exciting and terrifying.

Kimetha, I found this very interesting too. Entrepeneurial journalism...does that include making lots of blogs that I love to write and then trying to come up with a business model to sell some stuff to support myself and my writing projects?

My words of thanks seem wholly inadequate in conveying the appreciation of LAFD members past and present, as well as their families and those of our fallen colleagues, who benefit from community events like the Broomball Challenge.

The $450 raised through community generosity at this event will help our widows and orphans with the essentials if not all, that their fallen spouses and fathers can no longer provide.

Again, great work - and thank you!

Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,

Brian Humphrey
Firefighter/Specialist
Public Service Officer
Los Angeles Fire Department
